The LaundryMany of you will remember this view of the laundry building taken from the old generator shed.
Where in the building would you have been working if it was still open today?
The ClockThe magnificent clock tower still remains today. Many of you would have made the climb to the top
to sign your name. Apparently, so did Lord Lucan!!!
The OfficeThe office was occupied by many people over the years including amongst others, Robin Weedon, Jean Blenkin, Barry Minshull and Adam Pratt.
Can you remember more??
The ChairsWho used these tea room chairs? Maybe S Beeney, R Pressey, B Whaley,
D Walmsley, D Kirkland, R Truman, S Attrill, W Harris or L Marshall. Remember the rat!!
The ScalesUsed mainly by Paul Stickland and Doug Walmsley to weigh the Laundry but apparently used on occasion by the female staff
to weigh themselves!!
The CartThis wooden cart or trolley always seemed to be there. What was it used for? Can you remember it?
Did anyone use it for anything?!
We would love to know.
The RadioMusic was always piped around Whitecroft Laundry, usually from IW Radio.
It was generally turned up though to drown out Rose's dulcet tones.
The RoofThe roof above the ironers was originally made of glass. It had to be replaced after it was damaged by fire.
Can anyone remember the date of the fire?
The WashersThe engine room of the Laundry. I recall three main washing machines as well as the tumble dryers.
Did you work in this room??
The DryersThis scene of the ducting and fluff was all that remained as the tumble dryers had already been removed.
A poignant moment that shows the end of Whitecroft Laundry!
